Michael Ljung is a Managing Director in Accenture. He leads the Midwest Technology business, responsible for helping clients and Accenture projects pivot to New IT.
Michael was the delivery lead for all of Accenture’s work on the Federal Health Insurance Exchange, with healthcare.gov as the front door. CMS, a Federal agency, began rescuing the web site in November 2013. In January 2014, CMS replaced its prime contractor, hiring Accenture Federal Services to stabilize healthcare.gov and finish the back-end systems. Together, Accenture and CMS substantially improved the web site’s performance, reliability, and usability. Accenture also successfully delivered new systems for enrollments, tax subsidies, and reinsurance. Accenture worked with CMS on IT transformation and modernization, with agile, devops, cloud, and next-generation architectures. CMS is now recognized as a leader among Federal agencies for pivoting to the new, for creating meaningful digital experiences for consumers.
Prior to that, Michael led Accenture’s Advanced Systems & Technology practice in North America. This group included 2,500 experts in technology architecture, custom development, agile methods, mobility, and cloud computing. Michael has worked for clients in the public sector and Fortune 500, across industries. He also has extensive international experience, where he helped create the company’s component technology centers in southern France and London.
