What’s inside an integrated circuit and how are they actually designed? (Hint: not with giant electrical schematics.)
This talk will demystify the process and teach you how to develop your own computer chips at home. Its not as hard as you might imagine: Programmable logic devices, open source tools and hobbyist hardware kits now make this possible for about $100. No electronics or electrical engineering background required.
We’ll cover the basics of digital design, provide an introduction to the Verilog hardware description language, and walk attendees through the process of designing, simulating and synthesizing hardware for GadgetFactory’s Papilio Pro FPGA development kit.
